If you are making an extra payment always be sure to include that you want the extra applied to the principle otherwise the banks typically apply to interest. Sneaky. Sneaky.

Everyone is saying to pay off the monthly sum 2x or more and that is basically it. Well…. in my country banks will fine you if you pay off your loan earlier than the agreed contract. For obvious reasons. How do i challenge that?

  3. We've had our house for almost 2 years and we have just paid off 14yrs of our mortgage according to the amortization schedule.
We've saved thousands upon thousands of dollars in interest.
I can't wait to be free from this mortgage so I can buy a bigger property. Starting out smaller sure helps instead of paying rent and trying to save for a house

  4. Pay everything on credit card but pay it all off each month( a must). Never simply pay the minimum amount. Do not leave your money in a bank account put in a savings account at the very least as you will atleast be making interest. Utilise interest not only on your mortgage payment but also for any loose money you have left each month. You may have enough to then invest each month. What ever money is left at the end of the month could be extra on the mortgage or for other money investment strategies.

I pay bi-monthly plus I put an extra payment in a TFSA which I’ll put on my principal when I’m up for renewal

Been a new homeowner for 1.5 years
    Began paying xtra toward principal
Hopefully house will be paid off quickly

  7. If you can handle it I would round up, like the $240 I’d round up to $300 then when amortization principal reaches $300 you can increase again to $350 or $400 and so on in leap frog style. 🐸

my interest rate was 5.75% interest rate. so i went and refinance cause i got a 2.99 % interest rate

  9. Great idea to pay it the best you . But it is never yours miss paying taxes and the state takes it away from you .

  10. Down to my last $12,252. I only paid $820 in interest last year. Recasting your loan is an awesome thing for knocking down your mortgage fast too. Helps save a ton in interest too.

  20. I wish I had a β€œwe!” I may not be able to pay for my house in 10-15 years, but I do add extra money each month towards my principle. But, as a single person in a city with outrageous property taxes and ridiculously expensive homeowners insurance…I feel blessed that the only debt I have is my home. Unfortunately, my home is needing foundation work and no longer under warranty. Praying that God will give me an answer on how to go about getting my foundation repaired without having to take out a costly loan.

I have NEVER heard or seen this broken down in such a way! This is an awesome video and I will be applying this tip right away. Thank you so much!!

The longer you carry a mortgage, the more you pay in interest. mortgagedummy.cf helped me. By paying off your mortgage early, you may save significantly due to the additional cost of interest, especially if your home loan had a high-interest rate when you took out your mortgage.

Thank you for making this clear and easy to understand.

  25. How do we know that the monthly extra payment would go toward the principal? I ask this question because what I can see on my auto loan is whenever I pay extra payments, it just push the due date payment far away, it doesn't apply directly to the principal.

  26. I don't like to owe anyone too but I do want a house. Will apply this soon:) Thanks for sharing.

  27. Chris Greene

just learn how to say Amoritization… but you are spot on…sorry
