New QCP Capital: A Breakdown of Asia's Crypto Markets (w/Darius Sit, Joshua Ho & Raoul Pal)

  • Whatsapp

Darius Sit and Joshua Ho, co-founders of QCP Capital, joins Raoul Pal, Real Vision CEO and co-founder, to discuss Asia’s crypto demand, how it differs from the West, and the future of those markets. Sit explains that almost no one in China uses physical dollars any more and that the existing, widespread usage of digital payments paves way for a smooth transition into the adoption of crypto payments. Ho mentions that this isn’t just specific to Asia—all countries with a remittance corridor are likely to find utility and value from adopting crypto payments systems, which allow them to bypass the high intracountry remittance costs. They both believe that corporations are almost ready to begin allocating capital to the crypto space, but they are now looking for the most appropriate products to allocate to as crypto seems to have now been broadly accepted and legitimized. Filmed on March 23, 2021. Key Learnings: China already has a strong digital-first culture and will likely be able to pivot to crypto payments much faster than other places. Remittances seem to be the most important factor in the usage of crypto in Asia and elsewhere as it allows them to bypass high fees when sending money to friends and family in different jurisdictions.

  10. Using digital payments is real and a wonderful thing, but that has nothing to do with bitcoin directly. Yes, it’s blockchain not specifically bitcoin.

Stable Coins are the real use case here and it is going to be huge.
Don’t equate stable coins to crypto in general

  11. Is using a stableclin on a erc20 network worth tapping your phone at a store for small stuff. The fees are just way too high. I don't see it.

  17. Crypto is NOT a choice of fiat dabbling in crypto. It’s the birth of the wholesale transfer of ALL fiat to crypto, whether that be CBDC’s or all the rest. Opportunities to date are exponential.

  20. He is correct , here in China most things are payed for via digital payment ( mainly wechat / alipay ) I have used cash twice in the past 2 years , shopping , public transport , entertainment , bills , P2P transfers all digital , everywhere accepts it from banks to street venders , so digital Yuan was always going to come. As the rest of the world follows suit this should really open up blockchain opportunity.

  21. Thank you Raoul! I've been waiting for you to discover why Asia has such a greater crypto adoption rate than the Western world. I guess we've just entered your radar hhh. Greeting from Manila!
