New YouTube Paycheck Transfer Tuesday | Save & Payoff The Mortgage With Me | Pennies Not Perfection

  • Whatsapp

Happy Transfer Tuesday my money friends! Today I’m sharing the money moves we made toward multiple financial goals. For now I’m working on each one a little at a time until I can start crossing some off the list.

I also made a mistake this week in my transfers so I over funded one of the goals. Am I mad about it? Not really! Mistakes can be good and also revealing… this mistake revealed I’m more excited about a goal than I thought I was!

I started the Transfer Tuesday movement to motivate myself on my debt free journey to make more progress and celebrate smaller wins throughout the month. Each week I commit to doing SOMETHING no matter how small to move me closer to reaching my financial goals. It started with $5 in a week and sometimes I’m doing $500 or even $5,000. It’s truly about forward progress each week.

Transfer Tuesday is the day of the week where I share our financial moves to stay on track and motivate others too. Y’all are amazing and have made this series something that is so motivating to me beyond what I could have imagined!

This week I used our income to work on both of our current financial goals – maxing out my Roth IRA. Every single week I’m committed to working on both of these goals. Making consistent progress every week is helping us get closer to our big dreams.

Thank you for joining me on Transfer Tuesdays and on my debt free journey where I’m paid off $43,000 in debt while also living life, saving and investing too. I’ve been investing in my Roth IRA and paying off debt for a while and it’s super fun to be able to show you that it is possible to do both at the same time and hit debt payoff goals too. You don’t have to sacrifice your entire lifestyle and all other financial goals just to pay off debt.

Stay safe! Wash your hands! Be kind to people!

  2. I’m glad I can tell my husband I’m not the only one that works on finances at one in the morning. It’s my quiet time, when the kids are finally asleep.

  3. Dear Penny
Several times I have gotten a comment/ reply from you that only contains numbers. What is this? It looks like some kind of a scam.

  4. Hi! I know you had debated in the past about how long you wanted to take off for maternity leave. I’m sooo glad you are taking the extra time!! You seem so happy and rested each week. Keep up whatever it is you are doing!

  5. I do sleep deprived money moves lol. I stopped because it was a headache to get the issue resolved. Great progress!

  6. I do those sleep deprived money actions too. Only issue is that I tend to do that by inverting bills and sending one bill's amount to another bill company. Still possible to fix but not as easy as transferring to wrong savings account/sinking fund.
    Mistakes can be good!

  7. Hi Mary again just to let you know I am being spammed about Bitcoin by someone using your channel name and your photo.

  8. Hi Mary. I'd love it if you could show what you would save in terms of mortgage interest and the impact on the length of your mortgage if you were to make a payment of say $3000 every six months from your house account to your mortgage. Would that impact be more valuable to you than building your house savings account at the rate you are? My head can't figure the impact out myself …but paying a mortgage off very quickly feels like a double investment in yourself…I see speeding up mortgage payments as being a form of investment in that the debt and it's interest is being paid back quickly AND this means that you own a greater proportion of your home. I'd be keen to hear your thoughts on all this.

  9. You're not the only one that make late night money moves!🤣 We are own support group and plus we enable each other here. Mistakes can be good.

  10. Hahahaha mistakes can definitely be good!😂 I did the SAME thing around 1am last month, I accidentally transferred $700 TWICE to my Roth IRA.😂🤣🤷🏻‍♀️

  11. Ew root canal. Same in June. I feel your pain. Currently on my 2nd round of antibiotics waiting for it.

I also made a huge mistake. Somehow, I forgot to file a 1099 on my taxes this year, so guess who now owes the IRS $2500. 😑😑😑 That said, I'm glad I found the mistake instead of them. Taking the money out of the emergency fund and will rebuild that later. I do NOT want to take a chance with the IRS 🤣

  12. Wahoooooo…did my first Transfer Tuesday Video today. Thank you for your inspiration! 💜💜💜 Mistakes can be good!

  13. Mistakes can be good. I learn more from my mistakes than I do my successes. I just need to make sure I don't repeat the same mistake twice. . .or more 🙂

  14. I love that you started this movement, Mary! It's so encouraging. Mistakes can be GOOD!!!

  15. Mistakes can be good! Otherwise, my sister and I wouldn't be here 😉 LOL Update on our new-to-us car sinking fund: we have enough now to actually buy a NEW car, not just new to us. Our mechanic (who we trust with our lives!) says we should get a Toyota because they're the only ones he's seeing coming onto the market that are really being built well (Subaru next, but they just had a big recall on the CrossTek that we liked). We've pretty much decided on a Camry…now just need to figure out if we want a Hybrid on not and whether to get an LE or an SE.

  16. Mistakes can be good? I work in the healthcare industry and everyone makes mistakes even when the stakes are high but a lot of these are hidden and confidential now which makes it harder to learn from. If you made a mistake you can bet someone else is going to make it too.

  17. We are trying to pay off our mortgage, save, and invest all at the same time!! 🤣 Great job!

  18. Mistakes can be good.

I have been known to do some banking in the middle of the night too. Especially if I was having trouble sleeping.

  19. Mistakes can be good! So so true. You’re progressing so awesome on your goals this year 👏🏻

  20. Mistakes can be good! My transfer day is Thursday since I get paid on Thursday. Still working on my debt. Paid my car insurance for the next 6 months from the sinking fund. Also pre-paid for a trip in June.

  21. I was falling asleep while reading about a stock I was interested in, ended up "buying" about $200 worth of stock… better than clothes, right? I never heard of sleep investing – but it happens! I wish we could just save in our sleep 🙂 That was a great accident for you, you don't ramble- mistakes can be good!
